The Demise of Me

I've fallen in love. She's sweet, she's chocolately, she's creamy, she's coconutty. She's everything I could dream of. Her name is "Chooda Sihrohk" and she's all mine for only 20 cents.

But unfortunately, this relationship might be too good to last.

We came to meet at the office. Tanya, one of the second year students walked in one day with her "lunch"; yogurt, chocolate, and "Sihrohk" - Russian's form of cheesecake. It comes in many different flavours and it looked absolutely decadent.

The next day, Chris went to the cornerstore and came back with some "Sihrohk". It had a caramel center, surrounded by cheesecake and then covered in a thin layer of chocolate. I took one bite and I was in love - or so I thought.

"Oh there's a better one out there," Katya told me as I devoured every bite. "Its brand name is Chooda and it has coconut in it." Oh? I thought. Could it be?

A few days later, Chris came back again from the cornerstore with this beauty, this "Chooda Sihrohk". I held this package in my hands. "Could it be you? Is it real?" Yes, it was, and so very real.

And now, I'm hooked. Never to look back again. The perfect accompaniment with an after-lunch cup of tea, it has all the qualities of the perfect dessert. When I'm eating one, I never want it to end, and when I'm not, I think about the next time I will be.

They're so deliciously yummy and so very inexpensive, can it really be wrong?

NEED HELP.....SEND ZIP-LOCS

So here's the deal. I was sitting in the office today, eating my....average lunch of ham sandwich, leek-flavored chips, and sweet pickles when I went to put a pickle piece in this bag - this average produce bag we got at the local Lenta store. All of a sudden, I froze. What was I doing?!?!?!? Throwing away a bag?!?!? Madness, woman, complete madness!

And then, it dawned on me.

I have just digressed about four decades.

You see, back in Canada, I would've thrown away the produce bag without even passing a thought. But here, in Russia, in 2006, plastic bags are a hot commodity. It's not just at the Superstore you have to pay for your average grocery bag. It's everywhere. And there isn't a whole aisle purely devoted to Gladware, ziplocs, plastic wrap etc., etc., etc. There is a small section of very thin bags and currently the only ones I have at home can basically fit half a sandwich. So when this Lenta produce bag presented itself to me having been used at the grocery store for nothing more than a drygood, I jumped on the opportunity of using this, everyday, for my lunch bag.

And now you can see my quandry.

So please, I beg you, send me your crumpled, used, zipper-included bags. If you love me.....please.......
